APPLICATION
Once
we have received your application, a surrogate coordinator will contact
you to go over your application and answer any questions that you might
have. We will then create a surrogate profile for you and pass it on to
couples that we think could possibly be a match. When an intended
parent reviews your profile, they will want to set up a conference
call. This is a good time to get everything out in the open. Let them
know what your hopes are for the surrogacy journey. If the conference
call goes well and all parties decide to move forward, we will then
start all of the other necessary steps that go into a surrogacy
arrangement. These include surrogacy contracts, getting medical and
life insurance policies in place, psychological evaluations, and
medical screening. It may seem very overwhelming, but we are here to
guide you step by step through the entire surrogacy process. We want
this to be a very gratifying experience for you. We will do everything
we can to be sure that you are happy with your intended parents and our
staff here at Bala Surrogacy Center. We look very forward to hearing
from you!

What is Surrogacy?
There are two different types of
surrogacy:
Gestational Surrogacy:
This is accomplished through In Vitro Fertilization. Eggs are retrieved
from the Recipient Mother or an Egg Donor and fertilized with the sperm
of the Recipient Father or a sperm donor. The resulting embryo is
transferred into the uterus of the Surrogate.
For gestational surrogacy, the surrogate will more than
likely begin taking birth control pills to align her cycle with that of
the recipient mother or the egg donor. At the appropriate time, she
will begin taking Lupron, a subcutaneous drug that suppresses
ovulation, estrogen to prepare her uterine lining for embryo
implantation and progesterone to help nourish the baby and maintain the
pregnancy during the first trimester. At this time, her hormone levels
will be monitored by blood tests. There will also be ultrasounds to be
sure that the uterine lining is developing to the optimum thickness.
Normally, somewhere between 3 and 5 days after fertilizing the egg and
sperm, the endocrinologist will transfer a pre-determined number of
embryos into the Surrogate’s uterus. This is a painless procedure
and
it only takes a matter of minutes. After the transfer, she will remain
at the clinic for an hour or two. When the surrogate returns home, she
will generally be placed on bed rest for 2-3 days. About 2 weeks later,
a blood test will determine whether or not a pregnancy has been
achieved.
*Please note that each clinic has different
protocols regarding the types of medications that they use and how
much. There are a variety of administration methods for supplemental
estrogen and progesterone. They come in oral pills, patches,
suppositories, and intramuscular injections.
Traditional Surrogacy:
Traditional
surrogacy is achieved through IVF, but the Traditional Surrogate will
be donating her own egg. She will be compensated as an Egg Donor,
in additional to be a Surrogate. Being that the surrogate is using
her own eggs, this
genetically links her to the child.
Traditional Surrogate will go for the complete IVF cycle.
Our
Agency does not use Artificial insemination, due to very low success
rate for AI or IUI ( only 10% per attempt )
